In 2003 Andrea’s jacket was ripped off together with her favorite beanie in Garmisch, Germany.
Outside the winter was cold, her ears froze and furthermore: her favorite beanie was gone!

Then lunacy started! While she was searching for a replacement, Andrea had to discover that beanies are quite rare within cold winter: “What remained on the shelf was not exactly what I imagined. Just the real white elephants ... Well, then I can take my granny’s beanie as well!”

No getting around it - Plan B had to do now…
So she went to the wool shop, bought some knitting needles and some cool soft wool and went home quickly. "It was freezing cold and without a beanie it's no fun …"

At home she called her mum and brushed up her former knitting skills. Then history took its course… Andrea knitted day and night … and she did not stop after her first beanie ...
In December 2004, after 9 months of preparation, Sionyx was born. Right from the start quality and sustainability of Sionyx products were in the first place. Sionyx derives its high-quality materials exclusively from certified European suppliers. Short transport routes, minimal use of machines and the usage of organic cotton maintain the carbon footprint of the company at a low level.

Today, five years after its founding, Sionyx is a successful family business. Sionyx products are distributed in Germany, Japan, Austria, France, Switzerland and Czech Republic.
